Shumoved - Magic Interception
tags: shortwave radio, Morse code, radio sampling, field recording, experimental electronic music
Travelling through the world of radio waves, switching between receiver bands and turning the tuning knob, you can stumble upon some curious sounds. On the FM band, this is usually entertainment broadcasting - domestic or foreign music, news, and so on. But on the shortwave bands, something unique and incomparable takes place. You may hear industrial noises, Morse code, conversations between shortwave radio enthusiasts... The track Shumoved - Magic Interception features samples recorded from shortwave broadcasts, containing sounds of Morse code.
(The track was recorded in late 2019, on the eve of the coronavirus pandemic.)
I invite you to listen.
